Hello! Welcome to my portfolio

I'm Ross, a programmer from Kent, United Kingdom. I enjoy working on exciting projects and have a lot of fun solving problems.
I've been programming since 2011 and I'm always learning new things. Being somebody who is mainly self taught, trial and error from my early years has definately helped me expand my knowledge. My main focus over the years has been game development however in the past few years my knowledge has expanded to web and mobile development. In my spare time I occasionally create tutorials on Youtube to help teach people all over the world how to write code.

Skills

I'm mainly self taught however I have gained some experience through my college and university courses.

Projects

VR Bowling

Created using Unity 2019, C# and the SteamVR library

After Owning a VR headset for a few years I wanted to create something simple but fun to play in VR. An idea that jumped out to me was VR Bowling because I hadn't really seen many games explore it yet. I was a big fan of Wii sports as a kid so it was the inspiration for this project. I had lots of trial and error with the physics however I got a fairly fun prototype working. My future plans with this project are to add multiplayer and AI.

Lego Doctor Who

Created using Unity 2019 and C#

Disclaimer * This project is not affiliated with the BBC, Doctor Who or TTGames. The project was a private project with no public release aside from video footage and screenshots. *

I created this project to see if I could create a small lego game in the style of the Lego games made by Tt Games. I chose Doctor Who as its a series I enjoy and personally I would love to see a full Lego game. I managed to recreate some iconic features such as stud collection, building, character switching and health.

Shrink Mcgee

Created using Unity 5.6 and C#

I started working on Shrink McGee when a friend of mine came up with the concept and gave me permission to develop it. In September 2017 I developed a run-time level editor so that I could make levels for the game much faster and test them easily.

Barry and the rise of Hector

Created using Unity 5 and C#

I started working on The rise of Hector in November 2016 making assets after designing the game with a team. In February 2017 we started making the game to fit our criteria set. We reserched many different platformer games to come up with ideas and bring back that old early 2000's style of game that everybody loved.

Yogscart

Created using Unity 5 and C#

I started working on Yogscart in December 2013 ober the space of a few weeks I gained a team of fellow fans of the YouTubers "The Yogscast" and we began working on the game in our spare time. The project is no longer being worked on due to the team going their seperate ways and becoming busy. My involvement with the project is to do a bit of everything from Programming new systems, Modelling new tracks, Doing research and Live-Steaming development.

Watch Dogs Camera

Created using Unity 5 and C#

This was a small test project to see if I could recreate a system similar to the hacking camera system in Watch Dogs 1/2. It was fairly simple to create but it was fun to work on!

Android Penguin Game

Created using Unity 5 and C#

I started working on Penguin Toss to gain experience in 2D and Android Development. The game itself is fairly small and theres not proper end goal. It was inspired by the IOS game Pocket GOD. The project was very small but I ended up leanrning about touch input , 2D development and exporting to android. The game was actually tested by friends on other Android devices and ran very well.
